Not really. Oh, and it's Anibal Sanchez. Not Anibel. And yeah, they've got some talent but all of 'em have good nights and bad nights and are playing under zero pressure, zero expectation. Let's see what any of 'em other than Willis do with 50,000 rocking Shea and a playoff series on the line. Sorry, I'll take the old guys who've been then and know how to show up when it's show time.
And for the long haul, the Mets have John Maine, Brian Bannister, Mike Pelfrey, Phil Humber and Oliver Perez. And a lot of cash to sign a FA this offseason. And way out there on the horizon: Deolis Guerra 17 and pitching in the Florida State League.

By who, the Padres who they beat the **** out of? Or the Reds, who they beat the **** out of? Or the Cards who they beat the **** out of?

Either the Astros or Marlins get that wild-card spot. No way it's the Reds or Padres.
And the Mets would have majore trouble against either of those teams, though I suppose they wouldn't play the Marlins.

I'm ashamed that I have contributed to this monumentally stupid thread. I'm even more ashamed that I will make one last contribution to this thread.
There is one National League team that could beat the Mets in the playoffs. That team is the L.A. Dodgers. The Reds, Astros, Marlins, Cards and Padres don't have a snowball's chance in hell to beat the Mets.
And with that, I bid this thread adieu...

There's that, and I just don't think the Mets are that good. Watching them dominate the NL is a lot like watching Matt Dillon win at football in "Something About Mary."
Special my ass.

Gotta agree with hockeybeat. Everybody seems to be focusing on the Mets' shortcomings without paying attention to their strong points. Their pitching is iffy, but so is everybody else's, with the exception of the Astros, who can't hit, and the Dodgers, who don't put as strong a lineup out there as the Mets.
