Why, oh why do people put this is their stories? What's the history behind this, because it seems to come from, ahem, our more esteemed colleagues age bracket.
What is so wrong with typing out 'heck of a'.
Of course, I did once and the coach chewed me out for it. Oh, yeah, it was a Christian school and he got flack from parents that he "swore" to the local rag.
The same goes for 'harriers', 'cagers', 'tankers', 'icers', 'thinclads', 'netters', 'spikers'...did I miss any?
Found an old topic on this...but never really answered my question. Seems to be more of a regional thing...I never learned it in school.
