Hannity vs. Kimmel

Hannity is a giant POS, but I do find it fascinating how many people, particularly on my side of the political spectrum, give Kimmel a pass for his Man Show antics.

As weird as it is, I always associated Adam Carolla with The Man Show along with some forgettable co-host. For that reason, I can never take Carolla seriously but Kimmel I never gave a second thought to. Perhaps that speaks to more how unmemerable Kimmel is than giving him a pass for TMS.

I guess the thing about Kimmel with me is I don't take him seriously. I don't consider him a serious person, I don't think he views himself as a serious person. I'm guessing Hannity does and is trying to discredit him. I don't know if Kimmel ever had any "credit."

I don't consider him a serious person, I don't think he views himself as a serious person.

Before Trump was elected, I think that's true.

Now that he has been, Kimmel takes himself rather seriously at times. He employs the oft-used comedian's privilege of being able to claim he's just an entertainer when it suits him and an earnest protester of conservative culture when that suits him.

Now, for what it's worth, Hannity's one of the worst people I can imagine. A complete toady and stooge who laughs all the way to the bank for fomenting rage when he himself barely feels any of that. He's not coming from a particularly honest place in his outrage.

When Kimmel gets stirred up about something, I think it's sincere.

Comedians are not among our more moral people. They're extremists by nature, and use "it's a joke!" or "it's satire!" as a shield against the criticism reserved for non-funny writers who are similarly extremists.

On a side note, the SNL Trump skit off the top last night stunk. It really stunk in that obscure millennial way things can sometimes stink.

I think Kimmel was sincere when it came to health care coming about from his son's situation - and maybe that's why now what he says is given more "weight."

And the opening sketch on SNL seemed like "we've been off for a couple of weeks, Baldwin is available, let's cobble something together."

Hannity gets about 3 mil a night, Kimmel about 2.3 mil a night total - Kimmels demos are better though.
