I know this is a journalism not a broadcasting board but I need to vent about Gus Johnson. He has to be the worst CBS announcer he just goes "Holloway for a deep 3..... OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" It is very irritating. I am the only person who feels this way? He drove me crazy during the Xavier vs K-State game.

I love Johnson by the way. Sports are not played in the library.

I agree but he seems to scream about everything. And Bilas did the Kentucky I believe. Also, I would rather hear the crowd or the color guy then Johnson screaming like an alum from one of these schools.

Johnson was going absolute off-the-wall ape**** during a Bills-Jaguars game last season. That's no good for anybody.

And when he did Knicks games as their play-by-play guy it didn't work as well because it sounds like just a loud shill when you're doing it for a team that's winning 20 games.

I do like it for March Madness. The moon landing by Gus made me think of other historical things he could announce.

At least we were fortunate that a couple of his games this year had endings that may have measured up to the screaming, hyperventilating and volume he brings: last night's game and the Broncos/Bengals game where Denver won on the tipped pass.

Gus Johnson's emotion is perfect for the NCAA Tournament. I watch games just because he's calling them. Last night was a perfect storm-- double overtime thriller with huge shots being drained and Gus there making the game even more exciting than it already is.

Gus is a super good guy, too.

I don't mind Gus in a game like last night where the excess is warranted. But it's horrible listening to his act when he's doing some meaningless regular season game with the same over the top histrionics.

He's gradually evolving into caricature the same way Vitale did. In the mid-80s, Vitale's act seemed genuine, then he realized it was his schtick getting him rich, and it became increasingly fake and insufferable each year thereafter. Gus is in the early stages of the same thing.
