Further proof Springsteen can't throw

His lyrics tell us he can sure as hell hit and hit for power. Probably a decent fielder as well.

But lack of speed and lousy throwing motion could hurt Springsteen ... almost said "The Boss," but no references to the Yankee overlord should taint this.

To me, Glory Days was more proof that occasionally even Springsteen writes really terrible songs.

We've actually -- and I truly can't believe I'm typing this -- had the "speedball" argument before.

Suffice to say, it's not wrong, but it sounds weird enough to throw people, and he could have easily changed it to "fastball" without ****ing up the scansion.

So mock the line if you will, just with the knowledge that "speedball" was once common usage for a hard, straight pitch.

Yes - I stand corrected. It dropped in front of plate like a splitty so that is etched in my mind. Grip is definately for change up. ( BTW great wiffle ball grip)

Speedball sounds better in the song than Fastball would have, and Glory Days is one of the few tolerable Springsteen songs post-Darkness.
