First time across the Plains

After 27 hours of driving...

Stopped in Sterling, Colo. and now have bug bites, presumably from bed bugs. (It's the one with the crown logo just off the freeway, if you're in the area.)

Averaged about 80 the entire way, saw two highway patrol troopers after I passed Beaver, Utah.

The first Kum' N Go was in Rifle, Colo. The second was in nearby Silt (but when I saw the sign, I saw Slit, dammit.)

Worst part: Des Moines and north. At least in Nebraska, I had small goals to look forward to (North Platte. Kearney. Grand Island. Lincoln. Omaha.) Not much past Ames on this road.
