Fired Joe Morgan

Morgan was so bad he was beginning to sully Miller's legacy. When I saw Miller would be honored at the HOF earlier this year :D, my wife, as stout a baseball fan as you will find, said "Oh no not that guy." I told her he wasn't the bad one, that he was the one worth listening to. She said something along the lines of she cannot watch ESPN broadcasts b/c of Morgan, that he drags the entire thing down.

Not only does he have a Titan in his sig, he had a convo with his wife that is verbatim one I have with mine any time we watch Sunday Night Baseball. She's dancing on Morgan's grave.

The only thing that is upsetting about Sutcliffe getting the job is he never has anything positive to say about the umpiring. Yes, I know there have been some issues and some legitimate criticisms, but Sutcliffe seems to take great pride in ripping every close pitch and every close play. Get over it, Rick. He was turning into the Larry King of baseball announcers...didn't do any homework and didn't feel he needed to. I'm sure he's a very nice man who cares for the game, blah blah, but that's just arrogant for a life behind a microphone.

This. He seemed proud in his ignorance of, well, anything that came after his own playing days were over. He was the embodiment of Howard Cosell's criticisms of ex-athletes on the air.

There's plenty to rip about general umpire attitude without even getting started about their
individual professional quirks (i. e. Eric Gregg state-of-Montana strike zones, ad nauseum).

I was reminded just how much Morgan drags things down while we were driving home from my Dad's during Game Six of the NLCS. We tuned into the Giants' broadcast on XM, and it was such a joy hearing Miller call the final out and anchor the post-game coverage. It was so simple and so elegant and a reminder of how great he really is. Thank goodness for him that he's finally freed of the albatross that is Joe Morgan.

Worse, all these years, Miller had to pretend Morgan was a professional broadcaster.

I didn't say I liked Morgan, but the sense of celebration is off-putting, and it's not strictly about how he did, but what he believed.

I like Miller a lot but it's great to see a good Canuckistani guy like Shulman get to sit at the big kid's table. I go back with him to his days on the FAN 590 in Toronto and he was just superb with Buck Martinez on Jays' telecasts back in the day.

Never liked Morgan for all the reasons mentioned here but I am a big Hershiser fan.

This is some of the best news that I've heard in sometime. I actually stopped watching Sunday Night Baseball because of Joe Morgan. He continually talked about how great of a player he was and how he made things happen in the sport of baseball. Did you know, according to Joe Morgan, he is the reason that Bud Selig did something about steroids and other PED's in baseball??? True story. You can ask Joe Morgan and he will set you straight. I do like Jon Miller. He will be missed. Shulman and Hershiser are a good pair and should be enjoyable to listen to.

How can someone "stop watching" because of Morgan?

Stopped listening, I can understand.

Hit the mute button, and watch. Been doing it for a couple of years for most sporting events. You'll still be more informed than anyone sitting in the stands, and the lack of constant chatter allows you to read or just not go crazy hearing the same cliches over and over.
