Every once in awhile an American Idol contestant surprises...

So I'm running some errands and I start flipping through the channels on my satellite radio and I hear a song starting that sounds like a combination of Pink, Kelly Clarkson with maybe a smidge of Go-Gos era Belinda Carlisle and Joan Jett in there.

Really good song. Ridiculously catchy. It's called something like "I'll be over you"

I assumed it was Pink. Turns out it was the first single from Allison Iraheta's debut album. She was the 16-year-old who finished fourth or fifth, I think fourth.

She was my favorite from last season, but if the other songs on her first CD are that good, she's going to be pretty successful.

Wow... I just assumed Pink wrote So What since it was about her life. I'm sure he wrote it for her.

At least six of them from the most recent season have signed record deals ... Allison, Kris Allen (the winner), Danny Gokey, Matt Giraud, Adam Lambert and Anoop Desai.

Here's a few more things Max Martin's responsible for, according to Wikipedia:

Since 2008, he has written and co-written six number one hits, including "Baby One More Time" and "3" by Britney Spears, "So What" by Pink, "Hot N Cold" and "I Kissed a Girl" by Katy Perry and Kelly Clarkson's "My Life Would Suck Without You".

(Don't know how "Baby One More Time" got on the "since 2008" list.

Just listened to this new one. Easily the worst of the Max Martin lot.

Here's a blogger poking fun of Max Martin for writing the same song over and over again. Check out how the chorus in both the Veronicas' and the Pink song kick in at almost the exact same time and end at almost the exact same time. (And maybe this is why I like all these songs.)
