"I'm sorry, baby. Give me a kiss."

When reading this, did anyone else feel like Francis comes off like Tim Meadows' impersonation of Ike Turner?

"I'm sorry, baby. I'm sorry, Kevin Nealon."

Loved that last sentence.

Guy seems like a hardcore coker, too.

There was such a strong disconnect between the beginning of the story and the end that I almost didn't make it there. The only reason I continued past the part about the sociologist is because I noticed that she wrapped things up at the end when I looked to see if there was a shirttail at the end. This sort of narrative non-fictional account is just that more powerful when the right reporting is done to back it up. I hope in the print version there were subheads or breakouts or something to make it easier to read. But, overall, I thought it was good. And, that dude's a dickhead.

Wow. Guess what hotel I'm staying at when Ms. Slappy and I head to PCB next weekend...

EDIT: What a fascinating story... this guy is a sleaze beyond belief.... outstanding work by the reporter -- sorry that she had to go to those lengths to get it.

That girls are so willing and think it's an honor to be on Girls Gone Wild does not speak well for our society. The girl who was assaulted in the story has a myspace page that is just frightening. You wonder if these kids have any brains whatsoever.

Great read. After that, there's no denying Joe Francis is a scumbag...

I feel terrible for the young girls being exploited, but then again, no one's forcing vodka down their throats or ripping their clothes off. There has to be some personal accountability here. If you're old enough to be featured in "Girls Gone Wild," you're old enough to make smart choices.

I like the First Timers video commercial better.

"This is mah first time!" Right, baby. Maybe 5 or 6 years ago.

pretty awful...

doesn't that one girl have a case against someone, i mean, she said she's 18, yet someone had to be providing her alcohol

There is a special place in hell for Joe Francis.

And a special place in my heart for Claire Hoffman. Great story, both the writing and reporting.

There was a GGW infopornmercial on last night and it showed a girl disrobing... You could see she was nervous but also tell she tried not to let it show. That and she had a wee bit too much to drink. And I kept thinking about the article.
I have come to the conclusion that no one needs to suffer a long, slow, painful social disease in solitude more than that bottom feeder...

No matter how good his lawyers are, I can't believe he hasn't gotten his ass handed to him in court. I mean, 90% of these young women are probably drunk or high when they signed a release. Couldn't a lawyer argue that the decision to appear in "Girls Gone Wild" was made when a woman was impaired?
It seems to me that one day, he's going to end up in a courtroom in a fairly conservative jurisdiction and the jury will see a case of a local girl who got a little too drunk vs. a scumbag from Hollywood.

An assault claim needs to be filed against this guy for grabbing this reporter. This is a matter which should concern all of us.
