Honestly, I’m surprised this kind of thing hasn’t happened more often at smaller towns during the football homecoming parade or Christmas parade, or a Hanukkah or other religious event. Or a big running event, like the Peachtree 10k with a bazillion people crammed in a small area.

I remember back during the Super Bowl in 2002, when there was considerable talk of how heavy security was there in the wake of 9/11.

I remember there was one random NBA game being played that day (something like Clippers/Grizzlies or some other non-descript team). I thought that if the terrorists really wanted to **** up the American psyche, they would attack the NBA game to show that even when we’re on high alert, there’s cracks to exploit. Thankfully, nothing happened.

Kennedy's behavior during that press conference was reprehensible.

He seemed to be suggesting the government, or SOME elements of the government, were responsible for what happened.

And yes, Governor Landry was combative, for no apparent reason. He's an ass.

Whenever something like this happens, I hate all the "What if" and "Whose to blame" questions. Sane people can't game plan for every insane scenario. "You had 10 feet of barrier, but he drove around. Why didn't you have 15 feet?" Because he would have just driven at the 20-foot mark.

Had it up to 25 at the halftime update. Checking AP and CNN, I see at least 10 dead and 25 injured, so maybe he got them mixed up.

Still, it's been almost worth years since the Damar Hamlin injury that Joe Buck handled so expertly ...

Reporters started asking nuts and bolts questions about things the FBI mentioned in their statement, and he comes to the podium playing the bully by saying, "We'll tell you when we have more information and if it's going to be more of these kinds of questions then we're not going to do this."
Then what are we even doing here?

I get there are things you don't want to share, but this was two questions in — and both questions were very logical follow-ups and clarifications about things the FBI had already said.
One question he shut down, citing "the investigation," was about how many people were shot vs. how many were run over by the truck. Another was asking if the identities of any victims had been released. Another was a follow-up about how many potential suspects the FBI thought was involved, after the FBI said they didn't think he acted alone.
The reporters are just trying to nail down what happened, and Landry is coming back at them. Then he talks about how they're going to be "transparent."
You can not answer a question and cite the investigation without getting hostile as **** and threatening to shut down the first real press conference that can help get needed information to the public.

Kennedy was ridiculous and grandstanding as well. I just didn't like the bullying from Landry over reasonable nuts and bolts questions that needed to be asked. That whole press conference was a **** show for all involved.

Totally agree,. I'm guessing what happens is these types win primaries in red states by being the biggest jackass, win a plurality of 28 percent or so in a loaded primary and just keep up the act.
