Chris Hitchens, former waterboarding advocate, cannot be accused of not suffering for his craft. He's changed his mind about it after getting waterboarded and making a video of his experience.

In the video, he elaborated on the mental trauma that followed the technique, which leaves little obvious damage even though it is potentially fatal. “I think I sympathize a good deal more because as a result of this very brief experience, if I do anything that gets my heart rate up — I’m breathing hard, I’m panting — I have a slight panic sensation,” he said. Nightmares have followed as well. “Lately I’ve been having this feeling of waking up and being smothered.”

Well, we're only doing it to terrorists or people we think might be terrorists, so it's OK.

And, suddenly, Hitchens is now credible with the left because he says something they agree with.

No, he still doesn't have credibility with me.

The people here sympathize with cop killers so should we really be surprised?

It was also torture reading Hitchens's personal account of getting his nuts waxed during a makeover session a few months back.

Wasn't there a TV guy who went through waterboarding as well like a year ago, with similar traumatic results.

Your skill for the non sequitor is astounding. :D

You guys are hitting the right notes, but you're still forgetting the ellipses. Those are very important.

Nope, he acts just like a typical righty: he switched positions on an issue as soon as it affected him directly (or when he experienced it in this case).

Hitchens is still a tool.

An immense tool. His public admiration for Orwell is a disgrace. I'd bet pound notes to crumpets that Orwell, were he alive, would find Hitchens intolerable, despite the fact that they share a few humanist values. Hitchens is the type of elitist tool that Orwell loathed, both in the academy and in politics.

Yeah, only righties do that.

The music with the video is stupid.

I believe it was played in the room by the "interrogators," to simulate what they actually do. If you notice, as they are delivering the instructions, the guy is yelling, then they turn the music down and he lowers his voice to normal levels.

Did someone leave your no-clue-o-meter plugged in? Apparently so.

Anybody who favors waterboarding should themselves have to go through it first.

Not a bad idea. Not at all.

Before my dad was allowed to teach proper use of mace/pepper spray to cops, he had to get sprayed in the face -- with a dose of each -- first. Definitely gives you a different perspective on it.

Of course not. I was just responding to o_t's usual bs.
