I've stated on here before about my view of a 16-team playoff that would incorporate the bowls, most of which would become relevant for the first time ever.
And as the devil's advocate, the people who run the various bowls have no interest whatsoever in seeing their game(s), insignificant as they may seem to some, be eliminated and replaced by an NCAA playoff game.
Trust me, the Rose Bowl committee won't lift a finger to help a semifinal or championship game in Pasadena because it means the end of the Rose Bowl, period. Somebody against somebody in an NCAA semi or quarterfinal game just isn't the Rose Bowl.
Not saying a playoff isn't the way to go. But I believe those who think you could just incorporate the curent bowl games into the process, and that the numerous people who run the bowls would give up their golden goose to the NCAA, are sadly mistaken.
