Updating one of my favorite stats: In the past 26 CWS, only four of the 104 teams to lose their first game in Omaha have won their pool and made the championship stage. Three of those four have won the title (Oregon State 2006, South Carolina 2010, Oregon State 2018). The fourth is South Carolina 2002, which lost the one-off championship game to Texas.

It’s like the obstruction and HBP bull**** constantly getting reviewed. Is devotion to every letter of the rule book serving the greater good of the game?

By the book, the ejection is proper. He was warned, he came out, made a YOU comment which is pretty automatic.
The shoo away motion was bush league. But you have a guy who was an up-and-downer in MLB who was fast tracked into college ball and postseason who doesn't have a good feel for the difference between MLB and NCAA.
The head coach needs to read the situation and know he's not going to "win" the argument. Especially with a guy who probably still had a chip on his shoulder from his pro days.
The two games is a stretch IF he was only questioning or saying he didn't bump the umpire. Because he didn't. To ask him to not fight for himself on that point in that moment is a tough ask.
However, the NCAA is really big on preventing prolonged arguments, so I can see why, but I don't like it.

I can almost live with the hair trigger for the first ejection if he had them bent over backwards to calm down the first base coach and defuse the situation. Instead he let his temper take over, racked up a combo bonus and put the whole game on tilt.

Not sure he did. He expects "a little bit of tolerance" because it's a BIG game. So he should get more latitude. Just because it's a big stage, you don't get permission to act out more.
If anything, he will get less because the officials are those who the NCAA has determined will do the best job at managing the game to the expected standards.
I'm not defending the umpire here (already stated that above), but the coach doesn't get extra rope. He stated he heard he was warned and said "You missed three already." (Or something similar). After the warning, any comment like that is going to be an ejection at every level. That is a universal truth.
If the coach said the shoo away was bs (he did) and that he deserved better (he did), then fine. But he was also wrong with his words and actions. And in the short term, every coach loses that discussion with every umpire. And as long as the coach has been around baseball, he knows that.

Joe Burleson threw somebody out of the Arkansas dugout in Game 3 of the 2018 finals for arguing balls and strikes. But not the head coach, even though Van Horn was bitching about the strike zone the whole game because his team didn't hit **** that day.

My daughter wanted to do jet skis in Savannah, at least until I told her they wouldn't let her drive until she was 18. God they are so much fun but it's been forever since I rode one. That means I hadn’t really remembered how dangerous they can be until this week. This is the second horrific accident I've read about in as many days.
