Deep in the hearta (enemy territory)
I went to the supermarket today and did my weekly shopping.

But instead of taking the first loaf of bread off the shelf, I reached into the back, checked the expiration dates, and grabbed the freshest loaf.

I did the same for the gallon of soy milk I purchased and for the bottle of Arizona Sweet Tea.

Instead of playing by the rules, I "gamed the system." Does that make me a dirty cheating *******?

Just wondering.

Did you dump all that old crap on the floor or did you leave it seductively lined up in front for the next poor sucker?

No, that doesn't. Does everything else you do on a regular basis make you one? Oh yeah.

No, but you need to turn in your man card for the soy milk

I do that all time, bat. You're supposed to get the freshest stuff and you should know that the older stuff is in the front and you have to dig a little to get the newer stuff.
I thought those were the rules.

I have soy milk. The doctor says the real kind could kill me.

Nothing wrong with what you're doing. I regularly do the same when getting milk.

Huh, I didn't know those rules, but I do now.

I'm lactose intolerant, so I guess I should turn in my white card. </sobot>

The Sweet Tea will kill you if the milk doesn't.

It's ok what you did. Big families buy the front stuff because they gobble it up so fast.

I'm guessing you are single.

I do this with milk all the time, since I usually need every day before the expiration date to use that milk up.

Why would you purposely buy older bread or milk if you could reach back and get fresher stuff -- even if you're going to eat it in the store?

Thanks, BB. I'm glad you do it. That way cheapskates like me can buy the "Reduced for Quick Sale" items that I fully intend to use that day BEFORE they reach expiration. You have saved me from bankruptcy many times. (But when I'm not buying for immediate use, I do the same thing you do th help out the other cheapskates that come in after me.)
