I'm saying Jose Reyes is the best shortstop in the National League.

We can agree to disagree. Offensively, arguably. Defensively, not a chance.

Fewest errors by SS in NL: Omar Vizquel 4, Jose Reyes 4.

Man, I think I see my share of baseball. And Jose Reyes' rise to this lofty spot never ceases to befuddle me.

You have to watch him every day shot. The only thing he doesnlt do conosistently is hit for power, but that's not his job.

He gets on base and gets into pitchers' heads the way Rickey used to.
He ****ed with Cole Hamels' mind so bad when he was on third base the other night, the next time up, with men on second and third, Hamels threw at him (actually behind him) on ball four and threw a wild ptich that scored a run and led to another scoing on a sac fly.

He's very good defensively and has a great arm.

But why shouldn't the best team in the league get 3 starters and a pitcher?

And Mustard, the difference in Rollins' 66 runs to Reyes 56 are Rollins' home runs. That also accounts for 10 or Rollins' 15 RBI edge. And your percentages are bull**** when you're talking 10 triples to, 8, 20 doubles to 16 ... I didn't say Reyes has 167% more stolen bases, I used real numbers.
And there's nothing like a leadoff hitter with A .328 OBP ::)
And doesnlt Rollins have Utley and the reigning MVP hitting behind him?

Simple fact is Reyes is a better all-around player than Roillins.

I'm not sure it's quite that clear of an advantage. But leaving Rollins off entirely is crap. Just another reason that garbage about representing every team has to go...and yes, I am repeating myself.

Pitcher A: 9-4, 2.74 ERA (4th in league), 1.14 WHIP, 84K, 38 BB, 10 HRs allowed

Pitcher B: 9-4, 3.87, 1.22, 116K, 29 BB, 19 HRs allowed (most in majors)


Because perception trumps reality, Cole Hamels (B) makes it and John Maine (A) does not.

So it's OK to parse the stats and **** on Hamels because he wasn't voted on? Either you belong or you don't, I'd think.

I'll also suggest that Reyes' advantages you mentioned: .034 in BA, .071 in OBP, .010 in OPS, 24 in BBs and 4 in Ks are pretty well overwhelmed by Rollins' advantages.

I'd offer you this truce: Either take Maine and Rollins or Hamels and Reyes. Everybody wins.

I think Reyes is a much more disruptive player than Rollins.

And I everlastingly hate anything New York.

They need to do away with the one team/one rep system. This isn't t-ball, it doesn't have to be fair. It should be the best players, period. Gil Meche won't even see the mound... do you really think there's this huge feeling of satisfaction in KC that one of their guys made the team?

And how the hell did Manny make it? He never wants to play in the game anyways, and when he has a down year and doesn't get in because of the fan vote, he still makes it??

Jimmy Rollins also has 57 percent more errors at short than Reyes (seven to four).

Gil Meche isn't there because the Royals need a rep as much as he deserves it. Meche (3.28 ERA) actually has a lower ERA than Josh Beckett (3.38) with roughly the same ratio strikeouts and walks. Meche also has four complete games and two shutouts; Beckett has three and two this season, respectively. Beckett's got a much better record, though, because he actually gets run support on a consistent basis.

So now you know why Meche will be there. It's because they picked the best players, period, and he's among them.

I think Youkilis got screwed. He's a 1B, but can play 3B and is having a better year than Lowell.
