Didn't we have a thread on this a while back? Were the percentages of blacks among the American-born players in MLB in line with the percentage of the actual population in the U.S.? If they are, this is simply a non-issue.

Yup. No one who quotes the percentages ever bothers to acknowledge the decrease in number of all races of Americans in the majors. Academies in the Dominican can cost the same as a first-round pick and produce many more players.

That was part of my point. Also, how is it a problem if the percentage of American-born black players in MLB is about the same as the percentage of the population in the U.S. that is black?

Both are around 12%.

It's one thing to say, hey, maybe more resources should be put into scouting/inner city help/etc. in the U.S., it's another to out and out say team X should have more (insert race here) players on their team. Ridiculous.

On another topic, the AJC should figure out the kinks in its publishing system where ' don't come out as ?.

If that is the case, then this is a complete non-issue. Not that it will stop a blowhard like Jackson.
