"Act Like a Lady"

Spector was going senile before he was re-elected last time. Now? Sheesh.

On the other hand, Bachman did express some level of uncertainty of whether she was, in fact, a lady.

She later added, "I think it will be the end of Arlen Specter in Pennsylvania."

No overinflated ego there, is there?

And of course, she runs to Hannity to whine and ***** about being told to act like a professional and not a rude loudmouth.

She was being rude and did not allow him to finish a sentence. After listening to it, you can see why he said what he said.

He probably should have had a different tact, though, but he was right.

"Act like professional," would have been a much better retort.

My thoughts exactly.

I don't care for Michelle Bachmann at all, not because of her politics, but because of her divisive, in-your-face style. She makes Sarah Palin sound unifying.

But Specter telling her to "Act Like A Lady" both makes him sound like a chauvinistic old fart and allows Bachmann to play the victim and get sympathy. Not something you want to do when you're up for re-election, let alone in a year that's going to be tough for your party anyway and where you'll have to beat two opponents much younger and more vibrant than you.

I live in PA and really hope Specter either drops out or loses the primary, because at this point his chances of beating Pat Toomey in the general election are no better than 50-50 (and probably not even that high).

How are the numbers looking for Spector in the primary?

1. Winning primary, losing general. Prediction: Dems lose Senate in November
2. Language is so weird. If Bachmann was a guy, and Specter had said "Act like a gentleman," this thread would never have been started. Senators are OLD. They use archaic phrases.

Yep. Arlen is an ass, but his use of this phrase is more on account of his being an old fart than anything else.

Much like Harry Reid using "negro dialect".

Is that the same Pat Toomey that used to play football for Dallas? Or am I just becoming a senile old fart? ??? ???

Probably. Arlen is 79. Harry is 70. I would have thought he was younger, but I just looked it up.

I have a question about the Reid comment. Does the book say who he was talking to when he said it and, if it does, what their reaction was?

I mean, it was so offensive, right. And he was clearly speaking to someone he trusted when he said it. So, what was the response?

Teddy got pissed when Bill suggested that Obama would have been serving them drinks only a few years ago.

Surely any liberal would have gotten pissed about what Harry said, right?

Specter is a Democrat and has a record of voting for women's issues and from what we've learned around here that means what he said was in no way misogynistic, chauvanistic or sexist and in fact, he could have told her "to go back to the kitchen where she belongs" and he would have still been given the benefit of the doubt that he would not have been given had he remained in the GOP........

See, isn't tolerance and diversity great, YAY!!!! ::)

When was Specter a Republican?

Up here in the Great White North, we once saw John Crosbie tell Sheila Copps to "pass the tequila Sheila, lay down and love me again."

Other Members of Parliament have also - during parliamentary proceedings, no less - called her a **** and a *****.

What! Are you serious?

Why? Who is she?

And she retaliated to Crosbie's comments with her book, "Nobody's Baby". Always liked Sheila. She was, as they say, a "real broad".
