A fad reborn?

I dated a guy a couple years ago, and I swear, every guy who wasn't him or his friends that was between 17 and 24 in that town had his collar up. I felt like I was trapped in no-man's land. VERY weird.

in fairness, a collar turned up on the golf course can often be a remedy for sunburn on the back of the neck.

but that picture of those clones (imagine this word with lines on it, like others can do) clowns is hilarious

Yeah. All the old cats around a course I used to frequent wear their collars up. They're not trying to be cool. They're trying to stay alive.

Flipped up collars? PUH-leaZZe.

I've been trying to bring back pegged pants and deck shoes.

Coolest look EVER.

Deck shoes [and playing tennis in them] is the reason why at 33 I look like a newborn horse trying to walk when getting up off the floor.

Personally I can't wait for this kind of a collar to come into style. The jacket not so much.

Muahahah! I had several pairs of stirrup pants that I paired with huge sweatshirts with writing on them, slouch socks, L.A. Gear tennis shoes and a scrunchie in my crimped hair.

You'll notice, sadly, that none of that was written in blue.

I'll pay $100 to anybody who can find photos of IJAG in that outfit.

IJAG -- I may be able to top you.

One of my very favorite outfits when I was younger was a turquoise tunic sweater over "paint-splattered" stonewashed jeans that I tucked into black fringed boots.

And yes, documented evidence of said outfit exists.

(I will slink away in embarrassment now...)

OMG, I SO wanted the paint-splattered jeans! My mom offered to splatter paint on mine. She didn't get it.

Did you ever write all over your jeans? My friends and I would sign each other's jeans, writing inside jokes and hearts and all that stuff. My mom died the first time I came home with "Jen (heart)'s Steve" written right above my knee.

Is this still a current fad? Honestly, I thought the collar look came back "in" three or four years ago and is now back "out."

Terry cloth is coming. I feel it. Just watch.

The funny part is telling youngsters that what they are sporting was what my mom and/or I used to wear in the '70s. They fail to comprehend that what's new now was new before.

Despite the love for the paint splatters, I don't remember writing on my jeans. I wrote all over my notebooks and book covers (made from brown paper grocery bags, of course).

Did Jen's love for Steve last longer than the ink on your jeans? ;D

Full disclosure: At a Polo outlet store a couple of weeks ago, I came across some paint-splattered chinos. They were marked down from $120 to $40. I almost bought them.

Instead, I bought a couple of tie-dyed Polo shirts.
