59 watch......

Furyk three-putts No. 5 for bogey, but birdies No. 7. 11-under with two holes (par 5 and par 4) remaining in his round. Live coverage on Golf Channel. (Entire round of TV coverage reairs at 10:30 pm ET.)

Shipnuck on Twitter, probably true:

Prediction: Furyk will have a 6-footer on his final hole to shoot 59...and he'll miss it on the low-side.

Needs a birdie on the 385-yard No. 9. Tee shot is down the middle. Short iron is next.

This would have to be the first-ever 59 to include a bogey in the round, wouldn't it?

So now in the space of 8 days, I've watched an NFL quarterback throw seven TD passes in a game and a PGA player shoot 59 in a competitive round. I feel blessed to have seen it. I never expected I would.

Mark, you better cross streets very, VERY carefully for the near future.

Mickelson finished at 63, leads by one shot.

We had the same thing three weeks ago with Tiger Woods at Firestone.

I doubt we'll see a guy shoot under 60 in a PGA Tour event again in my lifetime. Maybe on the Web.com or champions tour. I would expect we'll see someone (maybe Usain Bolt) run the 100 meters under 9.6 seconds before we see someone shoot a 59 in a competitive round.

Quoted for the shear hilarity of it.
