If it's anything like any Gus Macker 3-on-3 tournament I ever played in, the accompanying event will be a trailer ***** fashion show among the spectators.

Not just 3-on-3, but freestyle BMX cycling, plus additional events in track cycling, swimming and track, featuring coed relays in the latter.

On top of adding five other sports (including baseball, softball and surfing), how many sports is too many for a host nation to be expected to build facilities for? Or the public to pay attention to?

Tokyo Olympics: Eight more sports added for 2020

*MORE* swimming? Good god.

NBC doesn't understand your anguish. In fact, if there could be more gymnastics, too, there probably wouldn't be anything else over-the-air in prime time for the entire Olympics.

I actually love swimming. My favorite olympic sport.
But do we need really need a 4x200 free relay when we already have a 4x100 free relay?

I mean, its great for America, they clean up.

What event did they add? I am guessing a mixed relay.

Can players in the real basketball tournament enter the 3-on-3 too?

Is it going to be age and height-grouped?

If I'm an NBA team, I think I'd probably rather have my players in the 3-on-3 tournament rather than another two months of fullcourt 5-on-5.

Rochambeau is the only worthy addition to the Games. Perhaps Paris 2024.

You guessed right, it's a mixed medley relay. The IOC really likes these mixed events (they're also adding mixed events in archery, track [a 4x400 relay], table tennis, triathlon and judo [which I am disappointed to report will not be like the Royal Rumble])
They added a women's 1500 so Katie Ledecky can win it by five minutes and threw in a men's 800 to balance the books.

3x3 has been played at the international (FIBA)level for a few years now, U17 etc.

Was reading an article today about a Japanese wrestling promotion that did a "Train match," which was like a Royal Rumble on a train. A new wrestler came on board at each stop.
I'm thinking this would be a fantastic idea to spice up the torch relay.
