I would love to see the Brewers do something. Talk about a team and region that would welcome a championship. Quite honestly, with the number of first-time teams or long-time droughts ending in recent years, I would not be surprised if they wound up going all the way. I always wish they had won in 1982 -- that was a fun team. I was listening to the Brewers call on yesterday's game, and Uecker would go apoplectic if they won based off his reactions of an eighth-inning Cubs groundout.
Naturally, I am pulling for my Red Sox, but what happened with the '01 Mariners has stayed in my mind. I think it's the relief pitching that is going to be their biggest question mark. Kimbrel got tagged around more than usual this year, Joe Kelly and Matt Barnes -- despite the latter being a UConn grad -- can't be trusted, and Drew Pomeranz hasn't done anything well. When your most reliable pitcher has been a knuckleballer, that's when you know something's up.
