If ESPN doesn't do a 30 for 30 on the Clippers of the last 5 years then the entire premise of the series is flawed.

They still might win this series but I doubt it. The bigger picture is that it'll be one of the great LOLs if the window closes on them in the next year or two without them 1) winning a title and 2) even getting to the Finals.

What would be compelling about a Clippers 30 for 30?

"Had one great player, Chris Paul. League tried to convince everybody they had another great player, but they didn't. Spurs stayed better and Warriors roared past them. The end."

It would have been more compelling as the Lakers went into the tank and the Clippers got good that LA's second team actually won a title or at least made a serious run at one. As it is, they are just another team who got a few pieces together, made the playoffs a few years in a row but were never really better than a second round appearance. They best they did was beat the Spurs in 2015 but then turned around and gacked a 3-1 lead to the Rockets away. They aren't even that interesting to watch.

The Clippers' most interesting story line was the NBA forcing Donald Sterling to sell and even that wouldn't make a good 30 for 30.

Paul, Griffin, and Jordan are dynamic enough of a trio to get to the Finals, on top of getting Rivers to coach coming off his success in Boston It's funny that the Clippers just can't do it even though the pieces have been there for 5 years.

I watched them last night. Griffin and Paul are not even close to league elite in 2017. And Jordan has always been a one trick pony.

Paul, Griffin and Jordan are absolutely good enough to get to the finals with good role players around them -- and they have some decent role players.

I have yet to see anything that tells me Doc Rivers is not a **** coach. He has to go.

I hadn't been paying attention to the Blazers, but I saw Connaughton got a few meaningful minutes today, and even hit what at the time was an important shot.

Is he done with baseball? I thought he was a much better prospect there. But I guess NBA bench >>>>>>> Single A motels and buses.

Looks like he didn't go back after senior year of college, though the Os still have his rights for a while.

You could find a lot of angles.
- Team that came together rather suddenly
- Traded up in coach, but that coach ends up screwing up their roster on the back end
- A team that most personified what the west is at the moment, a conference where being a very good team might not get you to the conference finals.
- Sterling stuff
- Getting lapped by maybe two upstarts

You could pull together something good if the right folks talked.

I'd call them a team with bad timing. You could make a case they're better than the Champion Mavs, better than some of the western teams that Jordan lost to, but the conferences were aligned in the way they are. (Last year was just **** luck)

They could do a whole 30 for 30 just on David Stern's role in getting Chris Paul to the Clippers in the first place.

30-second mark ... someone go get Kanter a new pair of knees, please.

What if I told you there was an NBA franchise that has won 3 playoff series in the last 33 years....never gotten past the second round of the playoffs... coached by a guy who won a championship elsewhere... is the third most popular tenant in their building... owned by a guy who made billions in tech, and makes funny faces on the sidelines...is best known for their chirping at refs...

Not seeing it.

It's just funny that the Clippers can't do it even though they put themselves into a great position 5 years ago.

The Kings won the Stanley Cup. The Bucs won the Super Bowl. The Cubs won the World Series.

Just one thing left, it seems: the Clippers need to win the NBA title.

273 wins the last 5 years ... core of 3 borderline superstars with strong role players ... and the Clippers have nothing to show for it except a choke job and injuries.

And they were the team the Cavs beat in 2011 to avoid achieving the worst losing streak in North American sports history.

All that's left for the Clippers is to win the title ... or make the Finals ... or make the conference finals ... or win more than 57 games ... or have an MVP ...

Yeah they're right on the doorstep.

Listen, I'm a Clippers fan... but if you think this franchise needs a 30 for 30, you could just as well do one on any NBA/MLB/NFL franchise.

They were, briefly, a good team that happened to garner a lot more attention than they really warranted because their improvement coincided with the Lakers steep decline.
