Holy ****. A lightning bolt just hit Rangers Ballpark.

Easily within 100-150 meters of killing somebody. Mike Napoli approached the front steps of the dugout within three seconds of the blast. Insane.

So Ian Desmond begs out of the All-Star Game with an oblique injury, then proceeds to go out and homer and steal two bases today.

Don't wanna play in the All-Star Game? Fine. Don't pick him next year or any other year, either.

I missed the last inning of the Yanks-Sox game ... What happened to Adrian Gonzalez?

Greinke getting the start today for Milwaukee. He'll also get the start the first game after the break.

Greinke will be first pitcher to start 3 consecutive games in same MLB season since White Sox's Red Faber in 1917 (Elias).

Old Hoss Radbourn ‏@OldHossRadbourn
Z. Greinke in his back-to-back starts: 3 IP, 7H, 4 ER, 4 BB, 9K, 70 pitches. Let us waste no more time discussing this "feat."

Old Hoss Radbourn ‏@OldHossRadbourn
Perhaps Z. Greinke can go 2 whole innings in his next back-to back-to back start and we can pretend he has qualified for one win in three.

BTW, has it ever been determined who is behind that Old Hoss Twitter account?

I've heard it's Keith Law.

Braves rookie Andrelton Simmons — who might already be the best defensive shortstop in the NL, if not the majors — broke his right hand diving into second base today. That sucks.

It's not a broken hand. It's one of the bones in the pinkie finger.

At least that's the only injury news I've seen.

Tomato, to-mah-to. Probably out 4-6 weeks:

You guys are slipping -- can't believe no one taunted Manky about Jeter's drop.
I've been unloading boxes in the garage...otherwise I would have been all over it.
Oh, and then he can't get Punto out! BAHAHAHAHA

What great intangibles!

What a leader.

What a maroon.

Punto is hitting cleanup.

I just wanted to post that.

And he got on with a headfirst slide into first. YOU CAN'T MAKE THIS **** UP.

You just can't teach intangibles like the headfirst slide into first. You're born with that ****.

Tito talks about a guy that would harp on him during pitching changes right behind the dugout.
ESPN camera guy starts panning the crowd and selects a guy in the 3rd row and Orel asks if that is the guy that talked trash to Tito.
Tito's response?: Oh, I never looked up.
So this guy is getting blamed for being a ****-talker on national TV and it may not even be him.
That's funny. I know funny, and THAT'S funny.

Over/under on number of Chris Berman barbeque references during the Home Run Derby? 10? 15? 20?

Is he? Apparently everyone goes with the Many Acta theory of cleanup. Was back in CLE last week. Loved watching Brantley and his ONE HR back in the No. 4 slot.

Hey, Jose Lopez needs days off.

I'm not too cool with that, either ... and it was homers both Saturday and Sunday.

He did say the right things, FWIW. Said it was a group decision after a few days of discussions with the Nats' medical staff, La Russa and Davey.

Brewers are clearly overworking Greinke. I hope Verducci monitors whether his stats suffer next season.

He came in when Adrian Gonzalez got hurt. It's not like he was penciled into the 4 spot.
