Par-3 sixth. Phil hits it 12 feet from the pin. He proceeds to FOUR-putt. He's a wreck. On the bright side, he's gonna be putting any number of bookies' children through grad school this year.

Was at the first tee for DJ and Phil and heard nothing cross from the fans. Maybe the ovations would have been louder last year, but they were warm welcomes nonetheless. Perhaps we overestimate golf fans caring as much as media about geopolitics.

I’m not looking for Phil for guidance on politics but be honest. That’s all I ask.

I couldn’t ask for anything more than to have a shot at Mickelson flying home having beaten no one. C’mon, Phil, you can do it!

Ah, the soft-core version of soft-core Shannon Tweed.

Silk Stalkings was a favorite of the sports desk
Another thing when I got home was the CBS Crime Time after Prime Time lineup
In the pre Letterman days, CBS had a stable of Canadian TV detective shows it ran at 11:30
Night Heat, Sweating Bullets and the one I liked, Adderly, because I had a crush on Adderly’s secretary, played by Dixie Seatle
The late Winston Rekert played Adderly, who was a big Jesse Barfield fan

There won't be enough Kleenex in America to soak up the tears from PGA Tour HQ to the media center if Rory duplicates what he did at the PGA, dropping anchor after a great first round.

How dare you forget Johnny Bago.

I'm a pretty hardcore golf sicko and I have no ****ing clue who MJ Daffue and Callum Tarren are. I guess I don't watch enough DP World Tour.

Was thinking the same damn thing, especially after Daffue just chipped in to go to -6. According to Golf, Korn Ferry guy who just acquired enough points for a PGA Tour card next season, a 33-year-old grinder who shot 8-under in his U.S. Open qualifer. He's playing with house money right now, although my guess is he's about to face a whole new level of pressure this weekend.

This pro didn't plan on playing the U.S. Open. Now he's a shot off the lead (golf.com)

Speaking of money, how much are these guys on the lower-rung tours getting? I'm assuming all money they get is through the purse?
