Your first guess is correct -- reporter typed in a "c" instead of an "o." But there sure are a lot of bad possibilities in that name.

That's not a typo. A typo is when you mistakenly type something wrong. You know the writer deliberately wrote that. So many people get it wrong.

I even had an email argument with the editor of some website (not journalism) about the difference between its/it's. The person did not believe me.

One note. This particular phone was a work phone but the same number of the person I replaced.

I got all sorts of odd texts and autocorrects, usually from mysterious men who wanted to meet up with this guy in park restrooms.

Maybe that's where the "dong" came from.
