Your first guess is correct -- reporter typed in a "c" instead of an "o." But there sure are a lot of bad possibilities in that name.

On my previous phone, "how are you doing?" would autocorrect to "how is your dong?"

I simply said "Hi" to people after that.

That has to have been set up to do that on purpose by some snickering teenage programmer. There's just no way that happened coincidentally.
 
One note. This particular phone was a work phone but the same number of the person I replaced.

I got all sorts of odd texts and autocorrects, usually from mysterious men who wanted to meet up with this guy in park restrooms.

Maybe that's where the "dong" came from.
 
Have typed 'Yankes' instead of Yankees or Yanks a couple of time. Maybe they should play the Barves.
