These people have serious issues:

BELFAST, Northern Ireland (AP) _ A Northern Ireland man bit off the head of his girlfriend's pet snake during a fight and remarked that it "tasted lovely," lawyers testified Friday.
Shane Cooke, a 33-year-old bricklayer, was arraigned in Belfast High Court on charges of assaulting his girlfriend, Coleen McGleenon, and fatally torturing her royal python Aug. 4.
McGleenon's lawyers said he headbutted her twice and picked up her pet, put it in his mouth, and threw its severed head at her. "Your snake tasted lovely," he was quoted as saying.
Cooke's lawyer, Adrian Higgins, said his client admitted both offenses and had attacked the snake because he knew his girlfriend loved it. He said Cooke, from the border village of Keady, had been consuming alcoholic drinks for several hours before the attack.

I can't imagine even picking the snake up, let alone biting its head off. How drunk was this guy?

he headbutted her twice. I'm guessing a rugby player? Or at least a football hooligan ...

****, the Micks got nothing on the Scots. Wasn't it a Scottish guy who cut off his own balls to pay off a soccer bet?

THAT'S drunk.

I wrote a column on that when I was in college. It was a rugby fan. The dude's name is Geoff Huish. Here's what I wrote in my piece; forgive the writing. I've improved a bit in the three years since.

If you feel maintaining your promise is a testament to your loyalty toward your team, I commend you. I feel the same way. However, I sincerely doubt most people fashion the same will to their word as 26-year-old Welsh rugby enthusiast, Geoff Huish.
For lack of better words, Huish had the testicles needed to follow through on a losing wager in the outcome of a rugby game between Wales and England on Feb. 5. Note the emphasis on the word “had” in that previous statement.
Prior to the match, England owned a 12-year win streak at the Millennium Stadium, Wales’ home field. According to the Daily Mirror, so confident in England extending their streak, Huish proceeded to make a wager in which many presumed was anything but serious.
Among friends at club in Caerphilly, South Wales, these words echoed: “If Wales win, I’ll cut my balls off,” Huish said.
Much to the dismay of the England faithful, especially Huish, Wales snapped their 12-year home losing streak after defeating the opposition, 11-9.
A man of his word, Huish went home after the game and severed his testicles with a knife. He then walked 200 yards, returning to the scene of the pledge to show his friends he was in fact, true to his word. To no surprise, Huish required immediate medical attention.

Well, if it was a Welsh rugby fan, that's a horse of a different color entirely.

Didn't legend hold it was 22 consecutive double whiskeys that did Dylan Thomas in?

His Wiki page said 18.

"An alcoholic is someone you don't like who drinks as much as you do." - Dylan Thomas

From Dylan Thomas' wikipedia entry: Thomas was known to have remarked, "An alcoholic is someone you don't like who drinks as much as you do."

And Zeke, it says six days before he died, he had 18 straight whiskeys, to which he proclaimed, "I think that's a record."
