Covered a baseball game last night where about 20 MLB scouts were in the stands. All I could think about was this story.

His Brien Taylor story was also mind-blowingly good.

These days, only the best get the kind of opportunity he gets to go out there and tell these stories from all over the country. That's his first work I've read, but I'm enjoying the Brien Taylor piece now, and expect to read more.

No, I'm not Jeff, nor do I know the guy. Hell of a writer though.

Start going back thru the archive and read his stuff from earlier this season. It's almost always top-notch, from Opening Day on. I never read him in K.C. But Passan is a must-read for me now.

Good piece.

One thing that always worries me about pieces like that....

Stuff possibly being made up by the people you are interviewing to make the deceased larger than life.

I guess that's just my own bugaboo.
