New York Post: California dreaming

Sports Journalists Forum – Media, Newsroom & Reporting Talk

Help Support Sports Journalists Forum:

NY Post did its usual hatchet job on an incident in Washington state this past weekend (I won't link to it, don't give them clicks).

Basically there is an office building in Central Washington that ICE leases. According to the Homeland Security Department, a rock was thrown through a window on Saturday (when no one was working in the office) and a fire was started behind the building. MAGA types were quoted throughout the NY Post account claiming it was a terrorist attack on our brave law enforcement, violence against ICE officers prompted by leftist rhetoric, etc. Way, way over the top.

Our reporter called the local police and fire department. There was nothing about a rock being thrown, and the "arson" was a fire in a nearby homeless encampment that slightly burned a tarp on the fence that surrounds the back of the ICE office building.

We report, you decide.

It’s surprising the ****ty New York Post doesn’t get sued more than it does. Most of what it publishes it total ****ing bull****.

Please correct me if I'm wrong (and I might be), but I thought Dylan was pretty vocally anti-Trump, to the point of drawing ire from a lot of readers who thought he was too political.

That might be the play, to appeal to conservatives that are getting rapidly over MAGA. However, that horse is out of the barn.

I just got an email that my LAT annual digital subscription with Saturday and Sunday delivery is going up to $364 from $299 in 2025 and $234 in 2024.
It's probably still worth $30/month to me (minus all the "special" editions they force me to buy that shortens the subscription length).

Curious what big story the Post will break with their launch. Probably a deep dive on California fraud, given what we're hearing from Trump.

That price hike is crazy. The NYT's "all-access" digital subscription is $20-$25 a month, and it includes all the games.

I actually did look on the website but couldn't find the information on renewing non-new subscribers. Do you have to pay that $364 all in one whack? That's where I would probably draw the line.

The last two years I’ve paid a lump sum for the year.
Yeah, that's what finally killed off my New Yorker print subscription and switching to digital only. But that's a big commit for an electronic one alone.

I don't read the LAT.

Argh. Sorry. I need to actually pay attention before I press that Quote button.
