For example, I remember seeing conference leaders in soccer and a certain keeper had like 200 saves in 12 games. The next closest had like 80. They were seemingly saying every time she touched the ball in play it was a save.

An esteemed group, for sure. Some of that is because of lack of support from the schools.
After one football game in that league, I did my interviews and headed back to the press box. Halfway there, the SID crew met me walking the other way and carrying my computer bag. They said they were closing the press box, but I was welcome to write from their office across campus. No, thanks.
At least the SWAC people brought my things. In the non-SWAC department, I had a D3 game once where I returned to the press box to find just my stuff. Luckily, the phone lines still worked.

McClain was very bright, eager and helpful when he was the baseball SID. If you don't work for the WWL, he doesn't give a **** about you now.SEC Guy said:I've covered college football and basketball for two decades and the football SID, Steve McClain at Florida is the worst I've ever dealt with.
Florida has bad access in general, but the previous SIDs at Florida were about 1,000X better than McClain. Jeff Kamis and John Humenik were both professional. McClain is despised by the beat writers.
