I have all four of my wisdom teeth.
What is the purpose of having them pulled if they are not impacted?

That's the thing. They're not impacted.
Risks:
Although the risk of serious complications from general anesthesia are low, they can include heart attack, stroke, brain damage, and death. The risk of complications depends in part on the patient's age, sex, weight, allergies, general health, and history of smoking, alcohol or drug use.
The overall risk of mortality from general anesthesia is difficult to evaluate, because so many different factors are involved, ranging from the patient's overall health and the circumstances preceding surgery to the type of procedure and the skill of the physicians involved. The risk appears to be somewhere between 1:1,000 and 1:100,000, with infants younger than age one and patients older than 70 being at greater risk.

When I was really little like 4 I had a surgery on my ears they knocked me out and I was crazy. I do not remember at all but I was supposedly trying to bite the doctor, and was throwing stuff.imjustagirl said:I got knocked out, but three of mine were impacted. I've posted the story elsewhere, but apparently I was crying in the waiting room, wandering aimlessly, and being ... well, the crazy girl on the knockout juice.
What I remember: Waking up after the procedure, thanking the girl at the front desk and saying "My friend's out there, does he have to come in or can you just trust me? I have no keys" and then walking out.
That knockout juice is the real ****.
