When did you notice you were getting old?

I ask this question because the other day my brother, in his mid-30s like me, said something about feeling sore after playing in his rec league game.

"I'm getting old," he said jokingly.

He's in great shape. Better than me, and I'm in OK shape myself. I told him I hadn't really noticed a physical decline yet - other than some gray hair that I cover up, but otherwise, I don't feel different after workouts and such than I did 10 years ago.

I was 27, still in great shape, I was running every day and feeling great.

I went to the doctor, my weight was great...

Then he said, "Does your hair loss concern you?" It had honestly, never crossed my mind.

It's been downhill since that day.

Ten years ago, I interviewed a high school senior who was named after Jasmine Guy, from "A Different World."

Oh, I feel old culturally all the time.

When covering high school girls basketball and I quit noticing the players and started checking out their moms in the stands!

I may not be that old yet (only 26) but I already have all sorts of aches and pains in my lower back and hips stemming from a knee injury five years ago. This year has been the year that major dips in temperature, I've felt in my joints. Also, my chiropractor knows me by name.

This does not bode well for me in the future and arthritis.

During the NBA finals when they were making Jason Kidd, who I've known (not friends, but known...) since junior high sound like he's the oldest player in the history of the NBA. He's a year older than me.

I just had a milestone birthday. Good news is that I look 10 years younger. Bad news is I often feel 30 years older.

I've noted on the Tiger Woods thread that I pull for Tiger because we're the same age, and I'm not ready to see my generation replaced just yet. He's my stand-in.

Physically, right about 40. It was almost as if some sort of physical "switch" got flipped. I know it's just part of the natural process, and I've gotten to a good place with it. I still workout regularly, am really careful about what I eat, get my sleep, etc.. Even with all that....I hurt more (in places I didn't even know existed), I don't snap back as fast, my night vision has gone to hell, etc.

I'm still here, though. Considering how I lived in my 20's, I'm ok with that...

I still see a 25-year-old when I look in the mirror, but I realize a lot of those smiles from young women I get are now the kind they'd give their grandpa, not a person of interest.

Couple of things lately: 1) Restaurant personnel in their 20s have started calling me "young man." I can't tell you how much I've always hated this, when then did it to my mom (young lady, obviously), my former mother-in-law, whoever. Hate, hate, hate.

2) The other day I'm doing a hill workout on the only hill within 20 miles of my home, and this heavily tatted young woman and her sister come into the park. The young woman is shooting video, shooting herself, her sister, all around her in this park, which is empty at 7:15 in the morning except for me.

So as part of my recovery loop, I run toward them, and she says into the camera, "Here comes an old man jogging." I go past, turn around to do another hill repeat, start jogging back down for my recovery, and she says into the camera, "Here comes that m*th*rf*ck*ng old man again." So I do another repeat, jog back down, and she says, "Here comes that old man AGAIN. I might have to jump his ****."

So I'm the jogging old man (even though I look 25). (As an aside, last time I run past, I take a chance and say, "Am I going to be on YouTube? Hope it's viral by noon." And she says, "Oh, no, it's for my family to send them from my first day in Florida. I just moved here ... to study architecture." (!) So I tell her good luck, and she says, "Thank you sir! God bless."

To the m*th*rf*ck*ng old man she says this.

I've always loved amusement parks, and now that my boys are old enough to do the big rides, it was great taking them.

Until the next day when I woke up and could barely turn my neck.

Yeah, but it's not a big deal if a golfer is under 40.

I'll never feel old as long as I'm living with Methuselah JR. :D

Yeah, but it's not a big deal if a golfer is under 40.

Why do you think I picked a golfer instead of a running back?

I'm 38. I am curious how many NFL players there are who are older than I am. I'm putting the over/under at about 12, although kickers might make that a little higher...
