You know, now that we've settled Flash's status, there are a few others who've been conspicuously scarce lately, too. Reading the "how things have changed" thread, it occurred to me that we haven't heard much from Jones -- one of the more thoughtful members of the board -- and Xan -- one of the more entertaining -- either.

Board's a little less fun without some of the old-timers...

Personally, I miss Raisin Ham.

Xan is usually on here at some point most days, but rarely posts. Jones and Fregosi are on a deserted-island lovenest without Internet access.

Xan's serving the back half of his Hawaii-Georgia bet, apparently by his own choice — remember the bet we were never going to hold him to? Yeah, that one. Shows up at times in the SportsJournalists.com VIP room and overpays a succession of semi-dressed bimbos to give him lap dances.

not the story i heard. from what i understand, some assholes were PMing xan **** for coming back even though everybody told him to come back in public, including the guy he made the bet with.

Why would he give a crap what someone's PMing him? He could just block and proceed to posting away.

Personally, I miss Raisin Ham.

Someone must have taken it up on the offer to eat him/her.

And anyone harassing Songbird over a bet like that epitomizes the term "small person."

Personally, I'm all about "a bet is a bet," EXCEPT when the person who won the bet says the loser doesn't have to fulfill the terms. That's what happened in this case.

If you lose a bet to me and I say forget the terms, you don't have to live up to 'em. Anyone who still wants to enforce the bet in that case is an asshole.
