What is Love??

As bad as we are at defining it though, it is important to figure it out and pass that knowledge down.

My marriage had more good years than bad and I feel safe saying we were in love. But in the months leading up to the wedding I would have these creeping doubts and sometimes even try to convince my fiancé it was a terrible idea to marry me. But it was the first long-term relationship I had been in and I just thought those were the emotions people had.

When I was single, I would ask married friends how they knew when they'd found the one. The invariable answer was, "You just know." It was maddening.

Then I met lono and I just knew.

Admittedly I don’t have a much better answer. I can tell you when it’s NOT love.

When I proposed I had no idea whether I would feel the way I do about my wife 29 yrs later nor what was needed to make it last 29 yrs. I just knew everything leading up to that point told me “yes marry her.”

Damned if I know, and who said I would share it with this group of nutbags if I did?

I had no clue what the hell it was until I met my wife. I had thought I was in love a couple of times, but it was nothing like here. It was exciting, scary, and somehow easy at the same time. It just fit. She said it first. It took me way too long to say it back because I'm an idiot. That all started 30 years ago. We have been married for 25 of them.

I had doubts before my first wedding and they proved valid. I had zero doubts before marrying my current wife, and that has also been proven correct.

Love is hanging out at a Lavender festival on a 100 degree day while your loved one shops for soap bars and takes an hour to make a lavender wreath.
