What comics do you read every day?

Right now it's "Zits" and that's about the only one still funny.

I still follow "FBOFW" because well, I've read the damn thing since the beginning.

I can't stand "Peanuts". It is the most stupid ****ing piece of **** in the comics. Maybe it was funny 40 years ago, but not now.

All-time favs were "Calvin and Hobbes," "Bloom County" and "The Far Side". "Zits" is up there with those three.

FBOFW and Funky - they both have major changes coming soon, though. Particularly Funky, with the strip to move ahead 10 years after the sadly inevitable event takes place.

Terrier, where did you hear about the Funky time warp? I wouldn't be surprised though. It happened before when we had all the teenagers and one day, Les was suddenly a teacher.

I get some of my favorites (Zits, Fuzzy, FBOFW, Dilbert) in my daily paper and others (Funky, Sally Forth, Fastrack) online with DailyInk.com.

I know it's blasphemous, but I think they really need to put "Peanuts" to rest and give another strip a chance. I've always loved it and all, but it's been going on reruns for - what? - about five years now?

Terrier, where did you hear about the Funky time warp? I wouldn't be surprised though. It happened before when we had all the teenagers and one day, Les was suddenly a teacher.

I know it's blasphemous, but I think they really need to put "Peanuts" to rest and give another strip a chance. I've always loved it and all, but it's been going on reruns for - what? - about five years now?

I forget where, but a decent-sized paper did an interview with the creator and he said that Lisa was going to die in the fall, and that he's already working on next year's strips, which will jump forward 10 years from Lisa's death. The big surprise is apparently everyone else lives.

Quit reading the comics when they pulled the plug on "Calvin & Hobbes" I used to like "Pluggers" well enough, but I haven't seen it in years. And I would look at "The Boondocks" just because it was fresher than the other stuff.
I think the problem is, it's damn hard to do a comic strip that's funny every day.

When I find the time, I go to Yahoo's comics page.

Usually goes Doonesbury, Big Nate, Boondocks, Dilbert, Get Fuzzy, Luann, Pearls Before Swine, with Fox Trot in there on Sundays.

Then I hit all the editorial comics at the bottom.

I should also mention that I have a love for "Love Is..." in a purely masochistic way. I get the biggest laugh out of the assorted internet boards dedicated to the strip. I like thinking that somewhere out there hordes of "cat ladies" are holding out that true love will find them before they croak. And they're thinking about this while working on yet another "Love Is..." cross-stitch pattern. I also love to add thought balloons onto panels screaming for one. Such as the day the love was overlooking his shortcomings. The girl was looking over the boys shoulder and I added a thought balloon that said "Hmm...no penis." I forgot that I had written it there till the ex-Mrs. LSS started howling in laughter when she came across it while reading the funnies. This was also during a period when I was prone to draw super-afros on assorted dignitaries in the News section [Ronald Reagan...SUPERFLY!].

Back in the early 90's, the Dallas Times Herald [boy do I miss that paper!] had a color page of comics in the M-Sat editions. I worked at a comic book shop during those days and one of my co-workers did the coloring of those strips along with a friend of his (they alternated days). These two jokers were prone to putting subtle things in the strips such as making Dagwood's tie a different color in each panel of a daily "Blondie" strip. His ultimate goal was to quit the coloring job in a blaze of glory by adding pubes onto the "Love Is..." couple. He never got the chance as the paper folded. I went to a Tin Machine concert the night that the last edition of the DTH hit the streets. David Bowie walked out and said "Hello Dallas. Sorry to hear about your little paper." And yes...my head is full of useless moments such as this.

Just read it on BigRed's link. I guess this means Wally will be coming back from Iraq safe and sound. I remember his return to Iraq and Lisa's cancer coming back happened at about the same time, and I had the feeling that one of those stories, and only one, would not end happily.

An update of sorts: Dana Simpson, creator of "Phoebe and Her Unicorn" and a Washington state native, is stepping back from the daily comic strip grind. Today (March 29) is her last daily strip. The Sunday "Pheobe" strips will continue, but Simpson will be focusing on graphic novels and other endeavors.
