Vanity plates

Wow, the new Ohio plates are terrible (not that the old ones weren't). Invest some money in your primary plate so it doesn't look like a spread from a digitally-illustrated children's book.

I am basically in rebellion since so many states started going to the flat, plastic plates over the last five years. Plastic plates for plastic cars, I guess.

For one, the lack of relief at certain angles and in certain light conditions makes it much harder for anyone to read plate numbers. Additionally, the combination of countless different specialty plate designs further complicate the difficulty in reading and recognizing plate numbers/letters. Public safety takes a back seat to celebrating 4-H or the state historical society or the Freemasons, I guess.

I think plates should look like they were made in a prison. Always liked Texas' simple whites and the California blues.

We don't let criminals do such tough, demeaning work. Our tax dollars have to go to feeding them, caring for their needs and making sure they "get their feelings out" and make them "feel like they belong in our society' once they are "reformed."

When I was a kid, there was a Jamaican guy in my neighborhood with "MON". I think that's the only one I've ever seen that's made me laugh.

Funny, but also pathetic he put it on his car.

What was more disturbing was that he sat in the parking lot after he got his cash long past the time it would take to put it in his wallet. :o

North Carolina has changed plates, but it has been more than 25 years since the last wholesale change.

Some specialized plates have been unveiled. And, of course, NASCAR plates ...

Many Springsteen fans I know have vanity plates of Springsteen songs with BRN2RN and THNDRRD (and variations of those) being the most popular.
I could try putting together a lengthier list if people are interested.

Hard to believe some people would put such things on their cars. Nasty. Most are not subtle at all.

We could almost make a Sheep game or some kind of contest out of that list. There are several that I don't get.

This story came from the Baltimore Sun?? Sun sports columnist Pete Schmuck, who grew up in Southern California, had his request for the license plate SCHMUCK censored by the state. He made an issue out of it and the ruling was eventually overturned. I believe he has a photo of him with his SCHMUCK license plate on his Facebook page.
