In all honesty, the power comes from the cupped-wrist and no-thumb delivery. As Belmonte says, the left hand on the ball is just a substitute for the thumb keeping the ball controlled into the palm of his right hand in the backspring.

There have been bowlers on the tour who go with no thumb and throw balls just as powerful. Belmonte is not getting any extra power from the left hand. His extra power and revolutions on the ball actually come from not having his thumb in the ball, which allows two things: more cupping of the wrist and a freer release.

To say he's throwing the ball with two hands is not really accurate. Just like basketball players shooting free throws. Sure, they start with two hands on the ball, but at the point of release the off-hand is off the ball and it's really a one-handed shot.
