I know there is a "hate" thread..

Anyway - really dug the Google Chrome ad featuring people wanting to learn and do new things (it features Baumgartner's jump from space and NASA engineers cheering landing on Mars and ends with a kid saying "thumbs up everybody)."

Agreed. Every time I see it I think "Why am I sitting here on this couch? I should DO something!"

And then I keep sitting on the couch, but still...

The Volkswagen ad of the dad coaching his kid how to throw, and then they show the dad and it's obvious he never threw a ball before age 35, had us all laughing last night. Maybe because we were all youth coaches and have dealt with dads like that.

I don't even know what company it's for -- maybe an Internet company? -- but the one where the guy sits at the table full of kids and talks to them. His deep "I'm important" voice and their zany answers is very funny stuff.

Love the Blake Griffin commercials for Kia.

I've seen it a million times while watching the NFL playoffs, but I still like the NFL.com Fantasy commercial showing all the fans fretting over their bad fantasy teams (plus the clever made-up team names).

And, although it's gotten a lot of hate on the other thread, I actually like the T-Mobile commercials ("... one, two Kalamazoo..."). Of course, it helps they feature a good-looking babe in tight leather. I also give extra points to the latest helicopter ad because the soundtrack to it is "You Think I Ain't Worth A Dollar, But I Feel Like a Millionaire," my favorite Queens of the Stone Age tune.

Aaron Rodgers in the classroom. Great timing and funny all the way.

And the NFL "Superstition" ad with Stevie Wonder's song. Good idea.

A successful merging of a blood glucose meter with a jingle that sounds like an ad for Target's back to school sale.

Many of these are annoying, but she's cute as button:

This campaign was so ridiculous, it was also consistently fun:

Enjoy these two. Perfect description of my visits to Wikipedia:

That's not a job.

Well...

I never get tired of those lines.

I have a friend who played DI lax and cannot throw a ball. That video was tagged on Facebook the minute after I saw it.

Crap, how could I forget this one?!

Kid actor does a really great job conveying without facial expression. And the dad would so be me.

That one is Top 5 of all time.

From my favorite bloggers' live ... uh, blogging of the red carpet tonight:

The Fug Girls:
Let us take a moment during this commercial break to discuss the Accu-Check Nano commercial, where some girl basically sings a perky pop love song to her blood-sugar tester. This ad actually exists. You could plug in the words "My Little Pony" for "Accu-Check Nano" and it would make sense.

This. Love when he interrupts one of the kids because he's entranced with another one just doing something silly.

Also, against my better inclinations, I LOVE the "special eyes" ad for 1800Contacts.

Aiwa had an awesome commercial back in the day. One of my favorites.

The State Farm commercials, especially when the women are shopping for purses and the fisherman pops up.

Everyone of those Google Chrome ads is really, really great.

The "How about coffee?" one.

The "Mom is dead and that's awful but I still love you" one. (As a father of two girls, this one kills me.)

The "Hey kid, you'll watch these and see how obsessively I was documenting your life" one.

The "We're staring a restaurant one, and adding staff" one, because of the killer tag line.

The "It Gets Better" one, which dammit never fails to choke me up.

The Lady Gaga and Johnny Cash ones are pretty good too, though less than these.

The Justin Beiber one is about Justin Beiber.

But whatever ad agency does that campaign for Google kicking ass.
