Torn quadricep

Anyone have any experience with this? I've got one and I was told today I'll need surgery (to repair the meniscus as well: done that with the other knee) but I haven't visited the surgeon yet. Just wondering what I'm looking at. Is it a scope procedure? Any help is appreciated.

It's the tendon, not the muscle by the way. Tendon is worse I'm told. Wonderful.
