Ticketmaster scalps tickets

It doesn't come as a surprise given how many times I have tried to buy tickets for something and been told it is sold out within a minute or two of going on sale, but see the resellers already have a big supply.

I'm glad somebody finally exposed how they're doing it.

Meh. I just consider all the ticket handling charges as a concert's baggage fee.

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change.
I don't mind paying extra for the tickets to be mailed, I do get bothered for separate fees for a service charge and a "handling fee" sometimes per ticket on the same order.

Artificial intelligence doesn’t work for free, y’know...

Throw in that LiveNation owns them and writes Ticketmaster into their tour contracts, forcing venues to use them.

Ticket brokers basically act as a hedge for everyone in the concert business. That's where they fit into the ecosystem. You can push the limits but an overpriced, underwhelming show will usually get some sales because of them. This is just more of the same.

I worked as a phone clerk for a ticket broker in New Jersey back in the early 1990s. I remember a UB40 concert at the late unlamented Byrne Arena that practically nobody wanted to go to. We had hundreds of those tickets and at Christmas, the boss gave them out as bookmarks for the staff.
