The wedding cake case

I think it is a stretch to think that someone selling a cake to be served at gay wedding is condoning gay marriage.
You are not a gun owner selling a gun to someone you know is planning to murder someone. In that scenario, the gun is an integral tool needed for commission of the act that violates your religious beliefs.
The cake is not an integral tool necessary to the wedding in any way.
A baker is not violating his/her religious beliefs by selling someone a cake because is not a necessary part of the ensuing act.

The thing I find weird about the case, is the idea that the cake is an integral part of a gay marriage ceremony. Nobody's asking this guy to be the officiant, or to sing a song or play a guitar. I'd say a florist might have a better case than a bakery. At least flowers are usually present when the vows are said. The cake isn't a part of it.

Arguing over whether the cake or flowers are more integral to a wedding? You, my friend, are doing some Grade A hair splitting now.

I think you know what I'm getting at. A cake is not integral to a marriage ceremony and usually not even a part of it. The baker's presence isn't even required. Would a travel agent be allowed to refuse to book a honeymoon?

Is making the reservations art?
