Fox earned it with the approach and putt on 18.
I wouldn’t say “no doubter”. Looked to be headed left and caught the edge. But a hell of a putt indeed. That’s how you get it done! Two great shots and a no-doubter putt.
Iwasn’t rooting fornever heard of Fox when it started but he was the best player and earned it
Well, for a guy who’s never won a major, Fox was the only one playing and putting with confidence among the late challengers.I wouldn’t say “no doubter”. Looked to be headed left and caught the edge. But a hell of a putt indeed.
Ironic given that if he wasn't New Zealand sporting royalty, he sure as hell is now.I’m all in on Ryan Fox, who looks like Joe Sixpack playing the local muni.
They hit the dad-was-a-big-rugby-star-in-NZ storyline more than once. After he won, Tirico (I think) said something to the effect of he's now the pride of the All-Blacks.Ironic given that if he wasn't New Zealand sporting royalty, he sure as hell is now.
I don't know how far they went into this on the broadcast because during the final round, I missed the front nine due to church and most of the back, I was in a restaurant with no sound, but Fox's dad was a member of the All-Blacks (NZ's national rugby team), was a winner at the first Rugby World Cup in 1987 and is considered one of the best kickers of the ball in the history of the game. Oh, and his maternal grandfather was an international-level cricketer.
$55 x 2,000 = $110,000. Is that not how it works?I don't think that's right. That is +200,000.
I did notice that he was wearing a black polo, which I'm guessing was not an accident. Was just about to post about how he's probably the best Kiwi golfer since Frank Nobilo, who wouldn't have been at the Open because he works for CBS, then I forgot about that open Michael Campbell won at Pinehurst. They hit the dad-was-a-big-rugby-star-in-NZ storyline more than once. That would be listed as +200,000 (standard bet $100). That is an absurd line. It's more likely he was listed at +2000 and they saw it as 1 in 2000.$55 x 2,000 = $110,000. Is that not how it works?
