Yeah. I still care about the Triple Crown races (the only time all year I watch horse racing), but not at all for boxing at any weight class.

Deontae Wilder from Tuscaloosa was heavyweight champ for a little bit. For every day of his reign, he was probably less well known in town than any of the Alabama football starters and at least 2-3 basketball players.

Are ANY of the Derby horses running at Pimlico? When even horses are doing the load management thing... I get it. Horses are expensive as hell and winning just one of them will get you stud fees for life (the horse too!!! hahahahaha). But if this is the way the sport has gone, either spread the races out more, or start breeding horses so they can make all three. I know AMEX used to have a "championship" for the horse who had the highest combined finishes in all three.

Laurel looks nice enough, but Preakness weekend just doesn't seem the same without 2,000 heavily lubricated Maryland crab eaters filling the infield and jumping port-a johns.
Laurel is getting a nice send-off before it closes down and becomes just a training facility.
Kudos to NBC for mentioning the cockfighting story. Minus points for brushing it off as a cultural thing in Puerto Rico.

I think the Triple Crown has to do some rescheduling -- maybe make the Derby the second Saturday of April, the Preakness the second Saturday of May and the Belmont the second Saturday of June to give four weeks rest between both legs -- plus offer some kind of bonus for entering all three races. They already have bonus prize money for winning more than one, but that's obviously not enough to get many horses into the field.
Nice touch showing the Cupola being painted at Pimlico as NBC was doing the winner’s circle interviews.
