This is the Vancouver to Toronto train which is jam packed full of tourists from about now till the end of September.

The hysteria level could reach SARS levels.

Let me state this for you. Forty-four people died from SARS in Canada.
20,000 people die annually in Canada from influenza related illness.

I realize the fear of the unknown and the sensationalism we deal with daily, but we need not ditch our common sense. Especially when 50,000 people were wiped off the face off the earth in one day in Mynamar.

Train arrived safely. There was no public health safety threat thanks to the quick work of the EMS folks.

But they acted by the book: Quickly, appropriately and professionally. It was a stark contrast to SARS, an outbreak whose response was later described as a “international embarrassment” by a blue-ribbon panel. Canada has invested a lot in pandemic preparedness over the past few years and the investment is paying off.
