Summer Drinks

Wow. I was going to say how a mojito is my new favorite drink, but I was too late.

I've been hooked since I went to NYC for my birthday to see my ex-girlfriend (a story in itself, not worth diving into) and we went to a Brazillian restaurant in SoHo and both had them. I'd never had one, and I was hooked. They're delicious.

I've heard so many girls rave about mojitos that it's made me not want to try it. I did try the mojito-flavored gum and thought the taste was okay, nothing more. My favorite mixed drink is very simple, Disaronno and Coke.

Drank that a lot around Christmas. Enjoyed it.

I really wish the smell and taste of rum didn't make me want to retch. I think I'd love mojitos otherwise.

Eh, I always thought mojitos were a bit overrated myself.

But if you take some regular ole fruit punch, Wawa's preferably but just about any will do, and mix it up with some rum.... that night does not end sober.

If it's 'cause you don't like the taste, so be it.
If it's 'cause they're "girly," well, that's just dumb.

It's the taste. I've enjoyed a girly drink here and there but I don't like most of them. I'm much more a fan of simple mixed drinks or quality beer.

OK IJAG, here's an alternative for you (as I've said on here many times): Red Death.

1 part Vodka
1 part Southern Comfort
1 part Amaretto Almond Liqueur
1 part Triple Sec
1 part Sloe Gin
1 part Lime Juice
Orange Juice (to taste)

If it's made right, it tastes very much like Hawaiian Punch. Except Hawaiian Punch doesn't knock you on your ass after two cups.

Or, just get some Tanquray Rangpur, and leave out the lime juice.

coconut rum
pineapple juice
orange juice

mix the parts based on your personal preference/tolerance...

I'll still take a bud light over anything, any day of the week... but this is a decent change of pace.

I like a more fun drink like a mojito or a pomegranate margarita every so often, but I always come back to my favorite: vodka and club soda. It's refreshing and low in calories and if the vodka's good, they go down like water.
