The State Journal-Register in Springfield, Ill., is seeking a reporter to cover high school sports. We’re looking for a pro who can handle deadline-driven game coverage as well as produce enterprise stories from the beat. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with posting news on the newspaper’s Web site, www.sj-r.com, and compiling statistics from area teams for publication. Excellent communication skills are required, along with a thorough knowledge of Associated Press Style. A four-year degree in journalism is required, as is at least two years in a similar role at a daily newspaper. Ideally the person in this job would be able to paginate pages on a spot basis.

If you applied a few months ago when this was open and didn't hear anything back (I believe they sent out an e-mail that said they had hundreds of applications and had selected finalists) is it worth to send another cover letter, clips, etc.?
