Description:
Could this be the greatest job ever posted on JournalismJobs.com? We think so.
Here’s the deal. We’re looking for a journalist willing to hang out by the water and do work that involves wearing sunglasses, T-shirts and shorts.
The Sarasota Herald-Tribune is seeking a team player with the expertise to report on aerobic-fueled “performance” sports, particularly rowing, swimming, running and cycling. You’ll cover local, national and international competitions in our backyard. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, a social-media maven, a digital content producer and a gifted storyteller. (Yes, we want it all.)
You’ll strive to have bylines appear from the front page to the business section.
You must blend a passion for performance-level sports and fitness along with a track record for great journalism.
Here’s what you need to know about the Herald-Tribune and Sarasota, FL.
We’ve won a Pulitzer and been a finalist two other times.
We have a talented, innovative staff.
We value enterprise and urgency. Journalism still matters here.
Oh, one other detail. The average low temperature is 52 degrees in January. (You’ll sweat a lot in August, but did we mention our beaches?)
If you’re not competitive and prefer a cushy job indoors, stay on the couch. Don’t bother to apply.
If you’re good enough to be on our winning team, send a 200-word cover letter and link to your online resume to [email protected]. Or contact us via Twitter @BillChurchMedia.
