We are seeking an entry level sports staff writer for the military publication, The Globe on Camp Lejeune, NC. Responsibilities include research, writing, photography, and page layout under the direction of the managing editor.
Basic Qualifications Include :
Associate's degree in Communications, Journalism or English preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered. Page layout experience is a plus. This is a day shift position, however, some flex scheduling may be required to ensure deadlines are met and publication schedule is maintained.
Applicants must be able to provide writing samples. Please include a cover letter describing relevant qualifications (ie-work experience, course work, internships, volunteer work, military service, etc) and any other experience that you feel makes you qualified for this position.

Basic Qualifications Include :
- Cover stories to produce articles for publication in The Globe and supplemental publications as needed. Some assignments may require evening or weekend hours.
- Read for clarity, holes in stories, facts, Associated Press style and other issues before submitting a story; include a suggested headline with all stories; run spell check on every story before sending to managing editor.
- Have a working knowledge of the weekly newspaper computer system.
- Be able to manage time to complete all assignments on deadline.
- Exceptional work ethic; Good attitude, contributes to team effort & uses time productively.
- Listen to and communicate with customers, internal and external, in order to enhance the image, usefulness and demand for The Globe while providing extraordinary customer service.
- Take quality journalistic-style photographs and videos to accompany stories or for stand-alone publication.
- Design and layout editorial content on pages, using solid design techniques.
- Post stories, pictures and videos on social media pages.
- Must be able to pass background check, driving records check and a pre-employment drug screen.
