Sports Clerk
The Pocono Record seeks a part-time (20 hours a week) sports clerk
Primary responsibilities include organizing the local round-up, taking game scores and results for multiple sports via email, fax and phone and writing a summary for publication. This person will also update the daily sports schedule and organize items for What's on Tap, the weekly Sunday community calendar as well as write feature stories and personality profiles as time allows.
This position requires working evening/ night shifts and some weekends as necessary. This person will work closely with the sports department and night-side copy desk. Need to be dependable, speedy with taking results but also detail-oriented with a sharp eye for accuracy. An understanding of sports lingo and terminology are a must. Familiarity with JazBox content management system is a plus as is any prior experience dealing in agate or game results gathering. Understanding of social media and web postings are also a big plus.
