The Southeast Missourian is looking for a driven and passionate sports journalist to join our three-person sports staff as Southeast Missouri State beat writer.
The right candidate for the job will act as our point person on all things SEMO sports, with a heavy focus on football, men’s basketball and baseball. We want someone who can cover games but, more importantly, will build relationships at the university and in the community in order to break news and tell the stories beyond the games.
Southeast Missouri State competes at the Division I level in all athletics, with football playing at the FCS level.
We are looking for someone who is a self starter, strong writer and a great storyteller who can work on deadline.
In addition to the primary beat, the position will also require some high school coverage and layout duties, so paginating experience is a major plus.
The Southeast Missourian is a daily newspaper in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, with an award-winning sports staff and an online home, Semoball.com, that has earned AP Top 10 website honors.
