Description:
Is your newspaper closing? Are you being forced into a furlough? Well, we’re a small operation and we can’t replace your salary, but we are seeking journalists to do some blogging on our site. We’re trying to spread the wealth, such as it is (and it ain’t much) by bringing on board a different furloughed or downsized reporter each week to write several posts a day for us on the issues of local government transparency and conflicts-of-interest. We can pay between $250 and $500 for the week, depending on your skill level and the number of posts. You can work from anywhere, but our reporting is focused on Texas.
Who are we? Texas Watchdog was created this past summer by a team of of former newspaper journalists tired of seeing newspapers with shrinking resources pull back on the coverage of government. We’re a nonpartisan news operation that's taken a hard look at both Republicans and Democrats. Our real passion is to make government more transparent and accessible to citizens, and we love shining the spotlight on politicians' conflicts of interest.
